What a poignant selection from Father Richard! I have yet to have that kind of relationship with a God. I am so solidly entrenched in the rigid and authoritarian God of my Catholic childhood , where the prayers were rote, the crucifixes were scary. and the blame was all mine. I was a lost cause from the very beginning. I read these descriptions of prayer with envy and discomfort. They don't seem real or I can't find this approach in my experience. I have been tuned into Rev Rohr for some years now but maybe I need to more fully investigate. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I hope your medical issues (and those of your loved ones) resolve themselves quickly so that you can heal in the warmth of spring
Beautiful words! Thank you. I am not a church-going Catholic. There's much good in the Catholic Church and tradition. I enjoy the good and hope for the transformation of the rest. The Catholic Hierarchy is in a period of upheaval-evolution. Peace to you. 🙏🏻
I get that. I know some very compassionate and generous people who remain a part of the Catholic Church (my 85 year old uncle, for one) . It's just that the susceptible small child that I was is still afraid and scared of that God to whom she was introduced, And the Catholic Church has a ways to go to truly become the people's church. I applaud that upheaval-evolution.
I hope that there is a rainbow at the end of this long road you are traveling. I wish you health, and peace, and the contentment that comes from a job well-done. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all.❤️
So sorry to hear that you and those close to you are struggling. Sending warm wishes to all...
Thank you, Diane.
