JOYFUL PIECE #137
Is your well dressed?

I visualize a vast, peaceful, pool inside of us. We access that pool through our intention to be the best possible humans— compassionate, caring, loving. Our intention is like a sacred well that leads to the divine nature of our being.
Wells have sustained our life throughout recorded history. In scripture, the well is featured prominently as a source of spiritual enlightenment.
Humanity has recognized the value of wells and has worked hard to protect them— even to the point of zealously guarding access to them for fear of a well growing dry. Wells are revered and even “dressed” in some cultures, as the image shows.
It is important to go to our well of joy in these difficult times, to access the healing waters from that pool of spiritual refreshment and drink deeply from it to quench the thirst of our anxieties. Those waters help us to maintain our commitment to a better world, with the right to life, to liberty, to the pursuit of happiness, available to all seekers.
The news is chock full of details of the actions and inactions of those involved in the Epstein affair. Those participants missed going to their individual well and instead sullied themselves and others.
At the end of this post there is a link to more on the Epstein affair giving a good analysis of the path that participants followed. It is a disturbing read and only “touches” upon less than half of the heavily redacted documents that hide the identity of the participants while revealing the names of some of the young victims. The documents record the activities of those who seek to control our lives, our economy, our liberty, even at the cost of ruining the young lives of their victims.
If we do not seek and find our well, we will miss the chance of abiding in the joy of our deep, foundational pool of comfort and refreshment.
Resist with integrity, with love, with compassion, with joy, every day. Our resistance is the antidote to perdition: spiritually, politically, economically, physically. Persist, do not fear failure.
In her poem, Pay Attention, Karen S. Bonnell provides words of deep wisdom:
“The important failure would be to allow suffering
to eclipse the sun, to vanquish the smell of spring.”
Joyfully resist the dark forces of despotism daily.

I love that you number your posts, Manuel.
Thank you for these inspiring words.

I am on vacation visiting my wells of joy. I visit family, not destinations. The fact that my son lives in Colorado and my cousin lives in Arizona are decorations around the well. Life is too short to get bogged down in the mire of this administration. We need to fill up our love buckets whenever we can.
