On one of the links at the end of this piece we learn how sea stars can grow new arms when they lose one. In fact, the Linckia, can reconstitute itself from a single piece of an arm. These beings function as decentralized networks.
The success of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) appears to be the result of this decentralized approach. As we learn, the myriad AA groups thrive independently and without the direction of a central command center.
Today, the GOP and The Heritage Foundation seek to establish a centralized command center to mold the American People in their image. All the imagination and creativity that has made our democracy a success would be obliterated by such a move rife with bigotry, racism, intolerance, and micromanagement.
The sea star story suggests that we must allow the creation of innumerable sea stars functioning independently of each other, if they so wish, and guided by the vision of a compassionate and caring democracy.
Be a sea star. Let go and inspire others to resist as they are inspired. The fascists will never corral us. They will never stamp us out. They will never control us.
It is our fear of failure in the normal uncertainties of life that sets us up to accept the guidance of imperfect would-be-saviors that ultimately disappoint— as evident in the Barker-In-Chief POTUS. Move forward in radical imagination into our world of abundance. Shun the lies and memes fascists use to manipulate us. Our main problem is refusing to heed the call to compassion and to share the abundance given to us by a generous Creation.

And then we’re given all these stories of scarcity….what does it look like to imagine beyond the constructs? What does it look like to imagine a future where we all get to be there, not causing harm to each other, and experiencing abundance?”
