I recently read a meditation by Victoria Loorz and Valerie Luna Serrels that helps us to get in tune with nature. Without nature we cease to exist. How do we convey their message to those drunk on the false stories being broadcast by a government focused on corporate profits at the expense of voters, non-voters, and all created beings?
The dominant culture of extraction and exploitation driven by greed and the hunger for power has directly and/or indirectly silenced the voices of many humans, including indigenous people and nature itself. Those voices are very aware of the correct place humans hold in the web of creation.
Consumption and a blind pursuit of comfort, regardless of the cost to others, is threatening the biosphere that sustains us. For eons the biosphere has thrived on diversity that allows adaptation to different environments. Yet, we witness intolerance by POTUS in his persecution of any individual or group that fails to meet his concept of reality. He attacks communities of color, women, our LGBTQ brethren, communities that speak differently than he does or who have different customs & traditions.
The boon of human intelligence carries also the responsibility to care for the only planet that we know to be inhabited by a dwindling diversity of life forms.
Survival is valued by all regardless of race, color, creed, nationality, or political party. Let’s focus on saving the planet, for its survival is our survival— if we act swiftly.
There may be a heaven and a hell beyond death, and many may weigh in on that thought. But there is also an opportunity to have heaven on earth, or hell, because of our actions.
We must act wisely. Money and gold do not nourish our bodies. The cravings of power and riches surely kill our souls and will certainly ravage our only home— planet Earth.

A beautiful letter. I continue to be astounded at the shortsighted policies and attitudes that are bringing on another great extinction and enormous suffering for our own species.
I trace the latest version of this lack of concern for the delicate balance of nature back to the Reagan "me" era.
Even Nixon understood the need to protect our world.
Until this nation adopts a "we" approach, things will just rapidly degrade and events like fires, floods and extremes of temperature will become the new normal. And those are just headline events.
When was the last time we saw a feature on TV that discusses how our oceans will not be a sufficient source of protein - we kill the coral and mangroves that are the nurseries and overfish using factory scale machinery.
Our consumption based economy may have so much destructive and negative momentum that it is just too late.
If only we could love our home instead of using it up. If only we could think like a species instead of tribes and cults. If only...
Solid reminder of the big picture
