AND THEN… Bad-tempered, I got back: Then, in the garden, The willow-tree
—Oshima Ryota, translated by Geoffrey Bownas & Anthony Thwaite
This poem gave me a powerful message. The beautiful, serene willow, with the capacity to yield and not break, brings me to a full stop. It compels me to consider the present moment and the gift of life. It teaches me to recognize the fleeting nature of human crises and to enjoy nature’s simple beauty.
And that is joy itself...
Be like the willow, ever resilient before the powerful winds of change.
Resist joyfully everyday.

Nature and trees are so brilliantly calming, not unlike a parent to a loved small child - strong, stalwart, comforting and responding gently to the winds when times are rough, yet still providing shelter for those that need it. They so epitomise the wonder of our planet and its life sustaining rhythms and beauty.
Thank you for this - the Willow is a beautiful and, in its own way, I suspect an extremely wise example of nature.
Wise Willow’s will bends
towards her nurturing grounds.
Dances in wild winds.
