JOYFUL PIECE #77
The caucusing sheep
The mystery of creation is like the darkness of night— it is great. Delusions of knowledge are like the fog of the morning.
RABINDRANATH TAGORE
They stand puzzled. This is not a pasture, and it is late. What are the shepherds up to?
The sheep discern that an event of unusual importance has taken place. So, they huddle up to compare notes.
One of the sheep, perhaps an outcast in their estimation, peels off. He is aware of the event. He is transfixed by what he sees: a young woman gazing with adoring eyes on what appears to be a newborn child, nestled in an ordinary farm animals’ feeding trough. A man stands before the two, awestruck.
Whether the sheep turned to that scene out of inspiration, or out of curiosity, we may never know. But he was focused on the fruit of love and kindness.
As we face our challenges ahead, let us do so with loving kindness for all. Many sheep failed to see. We have no excuse.
Be joyful today…and always.
