Even granite cracks...

Reading the news can be a challenging and potentially depressing affair. Despite the massive support for the Harris-Walz ticket, the campaign being waged by the opposing ticket is relentless and leads to a lot of paper-selling headlines by the mainstream media that can erode our faith in each other.
But there is an unexpected source of hope in our fellow Americans: Evangelicals are looking deep into their soul and rejecting who they believe to be the Anti-Christ: yes, the convicted felon former POTUS.
The first piece on which I base this post is a few weeks old, about 2 weeks after Biden pulled out of the race. In the hubbub following the emergence of Harris as the face of those who oppose the convicted felon, we may have overlooked the significance of this opinion piece.
In her opinion piece, Eliza Griswold examines the fracturing of the Evangelical voting bloc, who some have considered to be rock solid. It appears that the bloc is very much cracking as Evangelicals begin to further discern the moral compass of the leader of the MAGAs— the leader has been weighed on the moral scale and found wanting. And here is a more recent example of the growing disenchantment by Evangelicals with the convicted felon former POTUS, Trump's Lie Is Another Test for Christian America. It focuses on the message of the Gospels, as well as the dangerous situation created by the false claims from the convicted felon and his team concerning immigrant behavior in Springfield, Ohio. The subtitle pulls no punches— it reads:
“If we’re willing to see children terrorized because of a false rumor about Haitian immigrants, we should ask who abducted our conscience, not someone’s pet.”
The author is Russell Moore, Editor in chief of Christianity Today, an evangelical Christian media magazine founded in 1956 by Billy Graham.
I do not know what percent of voters being polled are Evangelicals, but these articles point to the continued fracturing of that “solid bloc” of Evangelical support for the convicted felon former POTUS. And that is reason for Joy.

We can only hope .... and "speak our minds, even when our voices shake" !!
Joy indeed!
