It may be too little too late. And some may think that It may be a ruse, a last-minute appeal from a sinking GOP to paint itself green prior to the November Elections. But given the dire situation our dear planet is in, to hear self-proclaimed conservatives declare to fight Climate Change is encouraging.
Humanity is one. Life is one. And we are all in this one planet, our only home.
Climate Change is a political term to obfuscate the reality of greenhouse gases driving Global Warming. The article from which I draw is ripe with GOP memes. It contains hidden as well as clear barbs aimed at those that have been working very hard for years to save the planet from Global Warming.
Nevertheless, we live together in this planet, and it is going to take collaboration to tackle the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.
The opinion piece in the New York Times that inspired me is entitled “I’m a Young Conservative, and I Want My Party to Lead the Fight Against Climate Change” .
In our fight against Global Warming, we need all possible allies. I may be skeptical of last-minute converts, but I must take them at their word, in good will, even though in the past the GOP has consistently supported the production of greenhouse gases by enabling the fossil fuel industry.
The opinion piece still sells memes of “market forces” and “green incentives that may not work”. We must not forget, though, that we are on a civilizational death spiral that a focus on balance sheets and corporate profits will not solve. The proof of the GOP pudding being offered will be in the tasting. If we, together, do not solve Global Warming, civilization as we know it will be no more.
Let us welcome, then, with joy, fresh recruits from all corners and trust our ability to convince them of our planetary emergency that requires prompt action NOW.

Solid comment and I always hope people can change but I am always reminded a leopard doesn’t change its spots
Indeed Manuel. Convincing those who identify as left-of-center to give up their comfy ways in order to heal our planet is hard enough. I'll welcome all who want to join the cause, even if in words rather than action, if the rhetoric might tip a few in our favor. Maybe that will buy us more time.
