JOYFUL PIECE #155
Commencement and loving kindness...
And one day, long anticipated, commencement arrives. No longer a child, the beautiful young woman that we visited as a newborn, and who we spoiled as best we could, steps out into the world. She asserts her being, taking possession of her space while exuding the values engrained in her by her parents: generosity, independence, mastery, and belonging. She dreams of that future that awaits her discovery. She draws on a self-confidence built on past experiences accrued as she grew into the fine woman we behold with awe and yet, with trepidation.
Our star is born into adulthood eager to befriend Maitreya,
Meanwhile, parents and grandparents recollect past events—some funny, others amusing, some momentous—that their memories fleetingly bring back and that want to fly away to accommodate the new ones that await our butterfly.

Congrats! Sending joy and love. My son has his high school commencement on Thursday and is excited about starting a Creative Writing bachelors at York University here in Toronto in the Fall. Tempus fugit - the next generations are on their way.
Graduation is such a poignant occasion. You hold the awareness and possible grief of years gone by while also holding the excitement and curiosity for the graduate's future. They can both be held and acknowledged, hence a few tears and much laughter. Congrats to your family!
