JOYFUL PIECE #134
The Holocaust of Human Decency
Amidst the violence from POTUS’ minions on Americans, we are visited by Holocaust Remembrance Day.
As human beings we have inflicted needless suffering on millions of our brothers and sisters since time immemorial.
Should this day not capture all acts of violence that we inflict on each other?
Certainly, the horrific acts of violence against Jews during WWII are unforgettable examples of our inhumanity to each other. And there were other violent acts against Jews before and after WWII as well.
How do we remember Palestinians, ironically driven from their land by Israel? Palestinians: victims of the genocidal war being conducted by Israeli fascists so oligarchs can develop pleasure resorts on the Gaza coast, which was stolen from these victims to line the greedy developers’ pockets.
Undergoing genocide is not suffered only by Jews and Palestinians.
Lamentably, in the United States we can recall genocidal events against African Americans, against Native Americans, against Mexican Americans, and persecution of untold numbers of other minorities, including Asian Americans.
We are currently suffering from a campaign by the POTUS regime to eradicate lovers of freedom. The list of victims grows daily. Alex Jeffrey Pretti was blatantly murdered on January 24,2026 by the POTUS repressive forces in Minneapolis. The murder of Renée Nicole Macklin Good preceded Alex’s. The list of shootings by the POTUS’ forces of repressions grows steadily. This is fascism in America.
Over 400,000 American GIs, fighting for freedom, were killed by fascists in WWII. Yet today Americans duped by the POTUS propaganda machine support fascist repression. Many Americans choose to look the other way and blame the victims for the violence they suffered.
The picture looks dark indeed. But we cannot imitate the violence and hate of the repressive forces that assail us. We cannot be indolent. There are more decent Americans than fascist Americans.
Our joy, based on justice, compassion, love, will overcome the darkness of the GOP. We must transform our outrage into action. Hate and violence will not provide the necessary clarity to effectively oppose the evil forces that we face.
Stay joyful while grieving the losses that we suffer. Millions before us have undergone similar trials.
We shall overcome the GOP darkness with the light of compassion and freedom for all.
Joining the dark side of hate towards our oppressors will steal our soul.
We must be joyful, as we vigorously resist. Joyful that we can stand for decency, compassion, as untold numbers of fellow human beings have done before us.

May we beware of
violence and indolence.
Both have bloodied hands.

May #WeRemember.
Resist history repeat.
Time to hold hearts, hands.
Good and Pretti and the other victims are literally martyrs, thank you for reminding us, Manuel.
