For reasons that I cannot explain, joy comes to me when I focus on the other. It is accompanied by peace, by a recognition that I am physically insignificant in the Universe and with limited ability to influence events. All I can do is my best. Life is not about me— I am about life. I am but an infinitely small expression of the grandeur of Creation. I am here, in my brokenness and imperfection to serve the broken, imperfect other.
Keeping that thought in mind, consider that it seems everyone is agitated these days, driving 100mph on a freeway to make one more Christmas purchase. Weaving in and out of lanes, our thinking jumps from topic to topic.
When I get off the freeway of life and park in a space of meditation, I realize that for all my trying my effect is at best commensurate with my stature as a humble human being. I am not called to bring perfection but to bring compassion, hope and healing where I can, imperfectly as that may be.
Parties and happy hours at bars may bring happiness, but for me it is service and humility that puts the lid on the trashcan of despair and uncovers joy.
There are 8 billion opportunities to help someone out there if I just look beyond myself and focus on others in need.
The joy of giving awaits…

PS: Continue to press for the expedited release, in full and un-redacted, of the Epstein Sex Scandal evidence.

Amen to this Manuel.

In the Jewish mystical tradition, when G-d’s Light, too intense, shattered the vessels sending shards far and wide … we each contain a shard. Our only job is to return our piece, our tiny portion, in order to bring wholeness back to the World (tikkun olam). Our Joy! our Light! #perspective
