Antidote to our times
A meditation…
The scriptures1 tell us that the angel proclaimed to the shepherds, “peace to people on earth who please God”. That, to me, implies caring for one another. The shepherds, representing the meek, got the message at least partly right, and went to seek the Newborn.
The wise men from the East read the signs of the times and did what they could by bringing gold, frankincense, myrrh, to the Newborn, who for some three decades reaching out to us He rejected, He ignored.
The riches of which He spoke are of the heart, and spirit, and soul. No bloated ego from petty governance will ever gather them.
He came into a land subjugated by the powerful empire of Rome, an empire that flourished and died, as all empires do.
The message is simple: look within for eternal riches. Serve others as best you can.
Maybe just the children and animals got it right!
It is indeed inner joy that will sustain us. The empire of oligarchs steals from others and oppresses; it is of this world, and mortal.
Do what is right in the light of truth as God gives you wisdom to see that light. Speak truth to power.
Rejoice in the task before you: and confront evil in the light of His truth.
Resist…we are many!
“Look within” for gold,
join life, love, learn, serve we-world.
“Speak truth to power.”
we are all the chosen people, chosen to repair what is broken, heal and bring wholeness.
