Justice blindness appears to be inversely proportional to the amount of money one has for defense.
I submit one Donald J Trump with all of his myriad of prosecutions and impeachments as evidence, and as my final argument.
The Texas Taliban is blind to all facts, but loves money. Clearly the travesty of blind justice failing this fellow and the resulting potential forfeiture of his life is irrelevant to the Texas Taliban because the amount of money he had for his defense was insufficient to meet their standards. I’ve not heard them say it yet, but their action say that to them life is cheap and brutally short. Let’s hope actual sanity prevails and he is released from their definition of hell, with compensation, although no amount of money can return the time he spent in hell or for the damage to his psyche.
I have not followed the case in the news but as soon as I heard it was Texas, I chuckled in disgust. The reason is the Republican Attorney General is a vengeful ass, who does not take responsibility for his own behavior but expects others to be held to the highest standards of guilt or innocence.
The crime of punishment. The death penalty does not deter other criminally individuals from offending. Our society has long poured too much money into punishment rather than helping families at the onset of dysfunction.
Sorry for quoting ad nauseam what I would hear when living in Taiwan. “If you want to raise a good son you must plan 500 years in advance.”
We are going to make democracy, compassion, caring, and inclusiveness what we stand for in this beautiful country by not taking our eyes off these goals. The amount of effort that is going into this election to save us from being pushed over the cliff is going to be how our society must continue to mobilize for every single election. We can pass this gift on to our children with their promise to not lose sight of these morals.
Perhaps, Charlene, we have lost our grounding in love for so long that mobilizations that protect human rights will need to be routine for the foreseeable future. 🙏🏻

Thanks for your understanding, Patrick.

I agree, Charlene. Thank you. I think that the principles of Restorative Justice deserve broad recognition and implementation.

How many innocent lives have suffered unbearable trauma at the hands of our so-called justice system!
So true, Donna. Thanks for your comment.
This is just another shocking injustice in the US that perturba me regularly. If justice in the US is blind, it is blind to compassion, empathy
And humility.
Thanks for your compassionate comments, Carolyn.
Justice in America is rarely blind in America. Rather it tends to follow the prejudices of the local area and generally the highest dollar.
Thanks for your comment, Elizabeth.
