On "us" all for sure, and in this instance, a lot is on the "U.S."
BTW, looks like our families share heritage, as dear father and all on our paternal side identify as Cuban. He and his friends were among the college students who risked their lives to take down the Batista dictatorship in 1959...
Manuel, I m sorry for all the suffering of the Cuban people Including you and your wife’s families. I am sorry for the part the U.S. has and continues to play in causing that suffering.
Thank you, Manuel, for exposing this shameful history of relations between Spain, Cuba and the U. S.. The U,S. is so quick to point out the injustices of other countries while denying the injustice in our own country. Like Iran must give up their potential for a nuclear weapon, but we keep ours.
Thanks for connecting these dots, Manuel. I'll never understand the bigotry and hate.
"On April 21, 1898, the US declared war on Spain to purportedly “cut the chains that subjugated the Cuban people”. The excuse to declare war was the accidental boiler room explosion, attributed to Spain, on the U S battleship Maine in Havana Harbor. But American designs on the rich island predated that tragedy.
It is strangely coincidental that the new Louisiana Constitution suppressing African American suffrage was adopted a mere three weeks after the US declared war on Spain.
As early as the 1850s, American business interests had backed an incursion into Cuba by Narciso López that sailed from New Orleans, Louisiana. The southern states of the US wanted to add a slave state, and the Cuban sugar industry had been built on the backs of African slave labor."
Unfortunately, Lorraine, we are all susceptible to exhibiting bigotry and hate. We are all guilty of that, we are all victims as well. Have a good weekend. 🙏🏻
It is a most disgusting situation and embarrassing and heartbreaking for those of us who see clearly what's going on in the US to pretend to be promoting freedom and liberty for all while constantly grabbing assets or punishing countries in order to control them.
“Understanding leads
to justice, which leads to peace.”
Onus on U.S.
Thanks for your comment, Marisol. It is always up to us, the large, all-inclusive us. 🕊️

Abrazos a todos los cubanos estropiados por la codicia de los poderosos. 🕊️❤️🙏🏻
Abrazos, apoyo, ayuda, aprecio, y admiración, a quienes laboran y luchan por lo justo y bueno.

Thank you, Donna. It is not just Cuba and those involved in the story that I related. Humans are often extremely inhuman to each other. 🕊️

We live in a very complicated world, Donna. Our role, perhaps, is to pause, and consider motivations and circumstances. Peace to you. 🕊️
