Another good one. As they say actions speak louder than words. The actions we are seeing today by those in power professing to b religious in their beliefs are definitely at polar ends of the spectrum. As they say you need to walk the talk.

So true, Scott. Thank you for adding wisdom.

The words of a prophet stolen by manipulators. Great ideas left in the dust as the greedy lusters for power twist the words to serve their selfish purposes.

This agnostic would have loved Jesus for his inspired philosophy.

Maybe, he should return with a new name and try again. Because few humans are taking him seriously now. Tragic.

Thanks for your comment, Bill. He came to teach us. I believe that it is up to us now to propagate his message, in thoughts, words, and deeds, Bill— just as you do!

Correct me if I am wrong, but the core message from Jesus was to treat each other well, as we would wish to be treated. At least that was my takeaway from Sunday School.

So the mystery for so many of us is how and why do so many "Christians" proudly practice cruelty and proclaim it as righteous?

The "preachers" seem to have perverted the entire faith - with some exceptions, of course. Bishop Budde and John Pavlovitz come mind. Perhaps it is long past a time when they would band together and speak as a unified force for kindness, mercy and love. To embrace empathy and HELPING not hurting.

Academics and philosophers ponder why each generation has more and more "nones" and churches are closing for lack of attendance. It is obvious to me. The "faith" has been corrupted and co-opted by bigots and haters.

Maybe a real internal religious revolution is long overdue and would be welcomed the way the peace movement was in my youth.

But what do I know. I'm just an old coot who loves his wife and dog and thrills in growing food and flowers. ☮️

You said it well, Bill: "Maybe a real internal religious revolution is long overdue and would be welcomed the way the peace movement was in my youth."

Thank you.

Peace to you. 🙏🏻

When you speak, speak a wordless presence

as if blessing permeates your essence.

Radiate conviction to ease pain and suffering,

ensure your life stands without wavering,

for safety and freedom,

in every corner of your home,

every corner of the world,

every corner of the Universe,

amein.

You are so right. I read these quotes the other day 'Compassion tastes the salty tears that stream down another's face.' and I also like 'If our compassion (substitute any values) shrivels, it's proof that our culture is dying, and there's nothing left within us that can reproduce and grow any thriving life. We're all called to do the work of helping. Thank you Manuel for another great post.

Thank you for your kind words, Yvonne. We are all trying to figure out the puzzle of life. Thanks for adding your quotes that ring so true.

It's interesting to consider the history of religion. Ontological theorems (theories on the existence of God) began with philosophers thousands of years ago. IIRC, philosophy and religion parted in the 600s. Christianity is relatively young as a religion, Muslim religion is even younger I believe starting in the 1400s.

Thanks, Lorraine, for commenting and restacking. The story continues...
